Launched in cooperation with the Virginia Bar Association in 2000, Legal Elite is jointly produced by Virginia Business and Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Each year, attorneys licensed in Virginia are invited to identify the top lawyers across more than 20 legal specialties through a peer-driven balloting process.

For the 26th edition, more than 14,000 attorneys and over 50 law firms participated in the nomination process. Balloting was administered by DataJoe, an independent media research and analytics firm. This year’s list includes 1,605 attorneys, representing 38.4% of the 4,179 lawyers nominated by their peers statewide.
